THE MOVEMENT
THIS IS MORE THAN A PLATFORM. IT'S A MOVEMENT.
Because becoming a mother shouldn't mean choosing between the career you built and the family you love.
She's Onboard is creating a new way for experienced women to remain professionally active while having the flexibility to be present for the people who matter most.
WHY I CREATED SHE'S ONBOARD
Marcela de Kern Royer, Founder
I am a mother first. But I am also everything else.
I am a mother of three. First and foremost, that is the most important role in my life.
But I am also a businesswoman. An entrepreneur. An author. An educator. A woman with dreams, ambition, ideas and a career I have spent years building in the yachting industry.
And I never understood why becoming one should mean giving up the other.
Becoming a mother changed the way I looked at success. Before children, success was easier to define. You work harder. You build. You travel. You say yes to opportunities. You keep going.
Then you become a mother, and suddenly success means something completely different. I still want to build businesses. I still want to create. I still want to teach, connect people, pursue big ideas and make an impact.
But I also want to be there. I want to see my children grow up. I want the breakfasts. The school runs. The afternoons. The cuddles. The first words. The little conversations. The ordinary moments that I know one day I would give anything to have back.
I don't want to look back and realise that I was so busy building a successful life that I missed the most important part of it. And yet, I don't believe motherhood should require a woman to give up the other parts of herself either.
"Why should we have to choose?"
For six years, through Women in Yachting, I have been bringing women in our industry together. I have met extraordinary women with incredible careers, networks, knowledge and experience — brokers, designers, marketers, charter specialists, project managers, shipyard professionals, executives, entrepreneurs. And over the years, I started noticing something.
Their talent hadn't disappeared.
Their knowledge hadn't disappeared.
Their ambition hadn't disappeared.
Their availability had changed.
And too often, our industry didn't have another option for them. Some stepped back. Some left completely. Some struggled to return. And the more I saw it, the more personal it became — because I was living the same challenge.
Then, finally, something clicked.
All these pieces of my life that had seemed separate suddenly came together into one idea. She's Onboard. And for the first time, it felt less like another business idea and more like I had found my purpose.
What if a woman with 10 or 20 years of experience didn't have to leave the industry simply because she couldn't be in an office from 9 to 6 anymore?
What if she could work while her children were at school?
What if she could manage a project from home?
What if she could contribute 20 brilliant hours instead of being judged because she couldn't give 50?
Companies need talent. Women need flexibility. Why aren't we connecting the two?
That is what She's Onboard is here to do. But I want it to become much more than a platform. I want it to become a movement.
Flexibility does not mean less ambition.
Part-time does not mean less talented.
Working from home does not mean less professional.
And motherhood certainly does not erase the years of experience, knowledge and relationships a woman built before having children.
I want my three daughters to grow up in a world where they never believe they have to choose between the people they love and the person they want to become. So perhaps the best thing we can do is start building that world ourselves.
A talent platform. A business solution. A movement.
FOR EVERY WOMAN
This movement started with mothers. But it doesn't end there.
She's Onboard was born from the experience of women navigating motherhood and a career at the same time. But the need for flexibility doesn't belong only to mothers.
Whatever your reason for wanting flexibility, there is a place for you here.
The mother returning to work
Who wants to contribute professionally without sacrificing the years she'll never get back.
The woman building her own life
Who values her independence, her time and her freedom — and refuses to trade them for a rigid schedule.
The experienced professional
Who has spent years building expertise and wants to use it on her own terms, for the right projects, with the right people.
The woman in transition
Who is between chapters — relocating, rebuilding, rethinking — and needs work that moves with her life, not against it.
"We are so busy giving our children a better future that we forget to give them a better present."
This is the belief at the heart of She's Onboard — and the reason flexible work is not a compromise. It is a choice.
MAYBE SHE…
There is no single definition of a successful woman.
She's Onboard believes in choices. Real ones. Not the illusion of choice that comes with impossible trade-offs.
Works full-time and loves it.
Builds her own company.
Stays home for a season.
Takes on one project at a time.
Works during school hours.
Steps away for a few years.
Comes back.
Whatever she chooses — it should be a real choice. Not a compromise forced by structures that were never built with her in mind.
THE INSPIRATION
The Nurture Revolution
Neuroscientist Greer Kirshenbaum's work on early childhood development is one of the ideas that shaped She's Onboard. Her research shows that nurturing care in the early years builds the foundations for resilience, emotional health and lifelong wellbeing.
The first years of a child's life are not just important. They are irreplaceable. And the adults who provide that care — mothers, fathers, caregivers — deserve structures that make it possible to be present.
This is not just a personal belief.
It is the reason flexible work matters — not just for women's careers, but for the generation they are raising.
THE BIG IDEA
What if we connected the two?
The yachting industry has extraordinary talent sitting on the sidelines — not because these women stopped caring about their work, but because the traditional structures stopped working for their lives.
A charter specialist with 15 years of experience, working 20 hours a week from home.
A project manager running a refit coordination remotely, around school hours.
A marketing director available for one focused project, bringing everything she knows.
A financial controller handling the books for three companies, fractionally.
Companies need talent. Women need flexibility.
She's Onboard exists to connect the two — and to prove that this is not a compromise. It is a better way of working.
MOTHERHOOD & CHOICE
There is no right way to be a mother.
She's Onboard does not tell women how to balance their lives. That is not our place.
What we believe is that every woman deserves the structures that make her choices real — not theoretical.
Full-time work and full-time motherhood — with real support.
Stepping back for a season — without losing her professional identity.
Returning on her own terms — not the terms the industry was built on.
Contributing brilliantly in fewer hours — and being valued for it.
There is no single definition of a good mother. And there is no single definition of a successful woman.
But there should be more choices. And She's Onboard is here to help create them.
TEN BELIEFS
What we stand for.
These are the beliefs that shape everything She's Onboard does.
Flexibility is not a concession. It is a competitive advantage.
Part-time does not mean less committed. It means differently committed.
A career break is not a gap. It is a chapter.
Output matters more than hours. Results matter more than presence.
Motherhood does not erase expertise. It adds to it.
The best talent is not always available full-time. That is the industry's problem to solve.
Women should not have to choose between ambition and presence.
The yachting industry is losing extraordinary people. It does not have to.
Raising the next generation is one of the most important jobs in the world.
We are building the world our daughters will inherit. Let's make it better.
These are not aspirations. They are the operating principles of She's Onboard.
FOR THE WOMEN

If you have years of experience and nowhere to use it on your own terms.
If you are tired of being told that flexibility means settling for less.
You are not less ambitious.
You are differently available. And She's Onboard is built for you.

To build a movement that changes how the industry thinks about work, talent and motherhood.

MISSION
To connect experienced women in yachting with flexible, meaningful work — and to connect companies with the talent they are missing.
VISION

Where flexible work is not an exception. It is the standard.
"Maybe all the different roads I have taken were leading me here. And maybe all the challenges I experienced were showing me the problem I was meant to help solve."
